I’m interested but need to know the dates.
The dates are July 2-3.
Very interested in this. A few questions, if you don’t mind:
1. I’m a “Forum Only” member–I assume I’ll need to up my membership level in order to participate? As a Utah Resident, do I choose the “Out of State” option? (Looks like you are based out of Denver.)
2. Is it too early to ask what the training curriculum will look like? Do you have a general outline?
3. What equipment do you require/suggest each participant bring?
Austin,
1. Yes, use the “Out of State” option when registering your membership. It is lower because it’s impractical for you to attend trails, picnic, and holiday party events during the rest of the year. However, you will be eligible for any Solihull discounts offered by, say, Great Basin Rovers in Salt Lake City…
2. I’ve only attended the 3-day version, but I assume the 2-day is a compression of Bill’s 3-day course. I will see if he can provide a basic outline of the two days. In the past, he’s conducted a morning academic session on the first day, trails (with educational stops) the rest of the day, then more trails (with advanced training stops) the next day. We’ve asked him to balance basic Trail Leader training with trail familiarity runs, so he’ll likely tailor our session accordingly.
3. Bill’s site, bb4wa.com, has suggestions for equipment/supplies to bring. Bring water, and expect lunch on the trail each day. If you have trail equipment (tow strap, Hi-Lift jack, etc.) that you’d like Bill to look at for you, he’ll almost certainly give you his opinion and/or recommendation.
This looks great. I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for the info!
Alright, I think I’ve finally gotten clearance from ground control to join the fun. 😀
One more question before I register: I have a friend who has expressed interest in “coming along for the ride,” but who is not particularly interested in running any trails himself in the near future in his VW Golf, he he.
He wants to know if he would have to pay a registration fee as well to “ride along” with me.
Thanks again,
Austin
Your friend can ride along with you without the fee. The cost is mostly for the trucks and those who will be coming back to help lead trails at Rally.
